Nick White "Your Virginia Dog Trainer"
Nick White grew up in a small rural town in Urbana, Ohio. Growing up, he had a German Shepherd that he loved to work with and teach new tricks to. His dog, "Deputy," would amaze friends and family that would often times stop over with his repertoire of tricks. Immediately then, Nick knew that this was his calling.
Just 7 days after graduating from high school, Nick left for Marine Corps boot camp at Paris Island, South Carolina. This is where Nick's fascination with military working dogs began. During his time in the Marine Corps, he lived in Japan, California, and spent 7-months in Fallujah, Iraq during the height of combat operations.
After spending 4 years working with the apprehension/bomb detection dogs in the Marine Corps, Nick was immediately hired by the US Secret Service and moved to Washington, DC. Again, Nick was surrounded by law enforcement working dogs; both bomb detection and apprehension. He always saw how amazed the public was at these dogs' ability to be off-leash, outside, with distractions, and STILL respond with 100% obedience on the first command. Often times, people would make comments such as, "I wish my dog was like that."
After spending 3 years in the US Secret Service, Nick decided to make many people's dreams, a reality. In 2009, he opened Off-Leash K9 Training which specializes in basic obedience, advanced obedience, and personal protection training. Nick prides his business in turning regular household dogs into amazingly obedient dogs that have that same level of obedience, precision, and attention as the military/law enforcement dogs that people are so often amazed by. More importantly, it helped turn Nick's dream into a reality. Nick always believed that all dogs should have the opportunity daily to be off-leash, free, playing, chasing a ball, and running around without the constant restriction of a leash.
Being the owner and head trainer of Off-Leash K9 Training, Nick has decided to do all private and one-on-one lessons. Off-Leash K9 Training prides its' self on producing high quality dogs, not high quantity dogs. This is done to ensure that the dogs and their owners have their trainer's full undivided attention each and every lesson, which is how they are able to achieve the amazing results they do in such a short amount of time.
Aside from training in the US Marine Corps and the US Secret Service, Nick has also trained with some of the best trainers in the world. Nick has trained with Andrew Ramsey who was the Lead Drug/Bomb Detection Trainer at Lackland Air Force Base which is where all of the military dogs are trained and he has also trained at the famous Vohne Liche Kennels with owner Ken LIcklider, which the Nat Geo show "Alpha Dogs" is based off of which is the training hub for the military and DoD special forces dogs.
Nick owns a Belgian Malinois dog that is trained in personal protection, detection, and does 32 commands. As a hobby, Nick enjoys doing brazilian jiu-jitsu on a weekly basis.
