Cierra Whitlock has been an absolute game changer for our students and for Willa.
Willa started as one of two litters of puppies our BU Zoo Zoology students helped rescue, raise money for, vaccinate, fix, and find homes. We fell in love with her and decided if she was staying—she needed a job!
That idea became “Training the Trainers.” When Willa was about 18 weeks old, Cierra began coming to BUHS weekly—not just to train Willa, but to teach our students how to train her. She introduced them to real animal-training skills and careers while helping us prepare Willa for her future as our school therapy dog.
Willa then completed a 2-week Advanced Puppy Board & Train and later a 4-week Board & Train with Cierra to prepare for the biggest challenge yet: going to high school every day! In August, Willa returned to BUHS right alongside the students, complete with her own first-day-of-school picture. ❤️
At only 7 months old, she is AMAZING—and Cierra has put her heart and soul into this puppy. She continues to come to our classroom weekly to train our students as they teach Willa new skills.
After Willa's first birthday, our goal is therapy certification followed by student-led visits to nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and throughout our community—and Cierra will be with us from start to finish.
Together, Cierra and Willa have already impacted hundreds of students.
And as someone who knew almost nothing about dogs, I should probably mention that Cierra didn't just have to train Willa and my students...she had to train the teacher, too! 😂

I really cannot say enough good things about Jada and what she did for Winnie. Winnie is a three-year-old rescue that we adopted from a local shelter, and we knew very little about her background. I really cannot say enough good things about Jada and what she did for Winnie. Winnie is a three-year-old rescue that we adopted from a local shelter, and we knew very little about her background. She is also my first dog and came into training with no real crate training in her past, so I knew I had a lot to learn. In four weeks, Jada picked up on things about Winnie that I honestly never would have noticed on my own. She learned what makes her comfortable, what stresses her out, what motivates her, and how she needs to be handled.
One of the biggest things for me was how much Jada paid attention to Winnie as an individual dog. She noticed that Winnie had a very negative reaction to some form of “shock collar” likely not an e-collar, and felt like she may have had a bad experience with one in the past. Instead of forcing it or pushing through because it was part of the program, she adjusted around Winnie. That meant a lot to me and made me trust her even more.
The updates throughout training were amazing. I got to watch Winnie get more confident, more focused, and way more reliable in public. She worked in busy stores, practiced off-leash skills, learned to settle, and made huge progress with the crate despite coming in with no real crate-training background.
The handoff was just as valuable as the training itself. Jada spent hours with me going over everything Winnie knows, how to communicate with her, what rules matter, what I can relax about, and how to keep the training going at home without making her feel like she can’t just be a dog.
The best part is that Winnie came home still completely herself. She is still goofy, sleepy, obsessed with blankets, and happy to curl up and relax. She just has so much more confidence and structure now.
I honestly feel like Jada didn’t just train Winnie. She taught me how to understand her better, and that means more to me than I can really put into words. I would trust her with Winnie again without hesitation. Read less

I have to say that at first I was very skeptical about the two training. I thought there was no way anyone would get control of my wild child Berniedoodle. I was so wrong!! Cierra is amazing and what she has accomplished with our Nellie is unbelievable. Cierra sent daily videos and texts to tell me how Nellie was doing. Most importantly, she made the training fun and we could tell that Nellie loved her. We still have our loving,… Read more

I was paired with McKaylee who met Honey and me for four one-on-one lessons. My Honey girl is super sweet, but has more energy than I knew how to deal with. From lesson one, McKaylee taught us how to walk on a leash properly, a feat I never thought could be accomplished and yet 5 minutes in, Honey was walking at my side, eyes trained on me, and not pulling or tugging a bit.
