From the moment we dropped our 2 Australian Shepherds off until the moment we picked them up 3 weeks later, Kelsi kept us updated and informed on their progress and overall well being, with daily photos/videos as well as weekly weigh ins. This was the longest our dogs had ever been away from us, and Kelsi really put us, and our dogs, at ease. It was clear from the photos and videos that she treated them like her own. Even though they were there to be trained, they always looked happy and engaged in all of the updates, and definitely showed love for Kelsi! Our main issues before training involved reactivity on the leash during walks, especially when encountering other dogs/animals. Kelsi provided our dogs with a solid foundation and really worked on redirection with them. She worked on commands such as “sit”, “place”, and “heel”. She provided us with many tools for us as owners to use to continue their training beyond the 3 weeks. Since they returned from training with Kelsi, going on walks is no longer the dreaded task it used to be, fearing how our dogs may react to seeing other dogs or even certain people. We are now equipped to handle them, and just as important, they are also equipped to handle themselves when they encounter potentially stressful situations. Kelsie Londa was our trainer! I have a very stubborn hound mix rescue! He is sometimes aggressive against unneutered dogs, but mostly fine with other dogs. High energetic, did not do well off leash. Kelsi got Stevie acclimated to the E Collar (which actually excites her now because she knows it means freedom) and got her to a better level of communication and understanding. I was not ready to give up on her just yet.
While I did loads of research and knew exactly what I was getting myself into when getting my baby I am surely not a dog trainer and there were certain things I could not do to assure that my fur baby could be successful in the outside world. To be 100% transparent I was the cause of some of her behaviors since I was so scared of her biting people I caused a lot of her fear issues and skewed her confidence.
With my first phone conversation with Matt he was super knowledgeable not only of the breed as he has trained more German Shepherds than I can count but he also is specialized with aggression training.
I did SO much research in regards to board and Train programs especially that someone else would be taking care of my baby for 2 weeks and I would have no contact with her. Off Leash K9 training is by far the way to go. I had a phone call the week prior to dropping Rosie off where Matt told me what I needed to bring and also asked me questions and wanted to understand what I was expecting. We chatted for over an hour and Matt never rushed me off the phone and took his time with me and answered all my questions as I had loads of them.
When I dropped Rosie off Matt was as professional as they get. He guided me from how we would handle Rosie and what we would be doing up until the time I would transfer ownership of my pup to him. I was surprisingly calm as Matt was great at communicating with me and a natural with Rosie. Super surprising as she would try to rip off anyone’s head when they got anywhere near me.
During Rosie’s two week board and train Matt gave me updates regularly on her progress and the different things she was learning and becoming fluent with and things he had to work more with her. He sent both video and pictures.
The day of pick up was seamless and this was super important as Matt had to retrain me to trust Rosie and myself in the process. The board and train is the tools you need to allow yourself and your fur baby to be successful.
Since Rosie has been home it has been amazing. We are super active and go camping every weekend and for the first time since we started camping we had children over and hanging out with Rosie there. She followed the commands with a few corrections and it was fabulous. It has changed our lives. It is a process and you have to continue to work on it and I am devoted to continue what Matt has taught us. It is so amazing to trust her and have that confidence back.
Also you have a lifetime guarantee and Matt is readily available in the instance I am having a hard time with a command or a situation and need guidance.
I can only say amazing things about Matt and Off Leash K9 training.
